Guest post requirements

• Articles to be unique and not published on any internet resourses earlier.
• Written content must be a minimum of 700 words and preferably over 1200 words.
• Content must be useful for audience. Preferably “how to” informational blogs.
• Youtube embed codes for videos are welcome.
• Only 2 outgoing dofollow links per article.
• All articles must include a high resolution featured image (copyright free), plus images to illustrate your article’s key points, which you must own the copyright for. If you don’t have we will take of that.

Article Template

All Techfloyd articles follow the following template:

• Lead+thesis: Here’s where you grab the reader’s attention, and let them know how this topic relates to his or her life.
• Intro: In the introduction you summarize the main points of the article, to prepare the reader for what’s to come.
• Main points: In the body of the article, you’ll go through 2-3 main points, each supporting the main thesis.
• Next steps: Instead of conclusions, at Techfloyd we offer “next steps,” or suggestions that will help the readers to implement the information you’ve provided.

Questions to Consider

Before you start writing your article, consider:

• What do you want to share with readers?
• Who is your audience?
• How did you learn about this?
• What else has been written on this topic?
• What examples can you think of that support your main point?

Guidelines

• Length: Techfloyd articles are between 700-1800 words long.
• PoV: Techfloyd articles are written from a 3rd person point of view as much as possible. Obviously any narrative you tell about your own experience should be in the 1st person, but that said, we avoid second person like the plague, and as such write sentences such as “Including usability testing in the process helps designers observe more” as opposed to “if you include usability testing in your process, it will help you observe more.”
• Research: We rely on research to support our theories, so please link to relevant articles if you are making a statement that someone else has also made, or provide your own data if your team has learned something through practice.
• Show, don’t tell: Rather than telling the readers, (for example) “content audits are important,” we ask that authors show us through examples. Tell a story about a time that creating a content audit made a difference in the course of a project.
• We aren’t the place for sales: Articles aren’t the place to showcase your cool new product. Articles are the place, however, to share the user-centered thinking behind your cool new product.

The Fine Print

Drafts submitted to Techfloyd must be original – they may not have been previously published elsewhere. Once published, you grant an exclusive, royalty-free license to Techfloyd to be the sole publisher of your article online. You may republish extracts, however, the article in its entirety must not appear elsewhere. You consent to the full article, extracts, samples or examples from it appearing in other sites, products, and services.
